Bette Buna is a family-run coffee company founded in 2020 by husband and wife Dawit and Hester, continuing a legacy that began with Dawit’s grandparents, who farmed coffee in Sidama for nearly a century. Their mission is to create equal opportunities for coffee-growing communities while producing exceptional coffee. Bette Buna now operates farms across Guji, Yirgacheffe, Sidama, and Bench Maji, and partners with local farmers throughout these regions.
This single-farm lot comes from Bette Buna’s 220-hectare farm in Megadu, Guji, where about 850 full-time and seasonal workers handle harvesting, sorting, and processing. The company provides fair wages, housing, meals, transportation, and schooling for employees’ children during the harvest season. The coffee is naturally processed—ripe cherries are handpicked, dried on raised beds for 3–5 weeks under sun and shade, then rested, milled, and prepared for export at Bette Buna’s facility near Addis Ababa.
